Our Story

Deep Blue Freediving was founded by dive-professional and full-time water woman, Anna Capps with the goal of building a safety-minded community of empowered divers.

Anna is a third-generation dive professional who grew up diving and exploring offshore South Carolina. She’s been scuba diving for over 20 years, and has been freediving since 2016. Anna first discovered freediving while she was working to become a safe professional mermaid performer. She immediately fell in love!

Anna does offer private SCUBA instruction, but Freediving has become her main focus and passion. Her goal is to bring people from all backgrounds and experience levels to the world of apnea diving so they can experience the freedom and peace it provides. She is particularly focused on creating a welcoming environment for women within this primarily male-dominated sport.

Anna primarily teaches within the Florida Keys, but does travel across the East Coast. She also enjoys spearfishing and advocates for sustainable and intentional food sourcing.
